PITTSFORD, N.Y. - The Catholic sprint quartet of
Catherine Egan,
Erin Buckley,
Kortney Clipper, and
Megan Burns all qualified for Saturday's final after an impressive start to the weekend at the Division III Elite Meet.
Egan set the tone, breaking the program record and finishing as the top qualifier with a time of 8.00 seconds. Egan just edged past teammate and former record-holder Buckley for the top spot. Buckley actually improved upon her previous program-record time, crossing the finish line in 8.05 seconds to finish third and qualify for the final. Clipper moves into third-place to ensure that the four sprinters each occupy the top four spots on the all-time performance list. Clipper clocked a time of 8.11, moving up from sixth to third with a new PR time. Burns finished ninth to qualify with a time of 8.18, just .01 shy of her personal best time of 8.17 that keeps her in fourth on the list.
Also competing on day one,
Sophia McNavich moved into 10th all-time on the Catholic indoor performance list in the 5,000 with a time of 19:35.53. She finished 12th in the meet's opening event.
In the women's 60 hurdles,
Alicia Vo placed 14th, missing qualification for the final with a time of 9.94.
