BALTIMORE, Md. – A gold medal performance by Catholic women's swimming and diving kicked off the Landmark Conference Championships on Thursday evening, hosted at the Mangione Aquatic Center in Baltimore, Md.
The Cardinals won the first event of the meet by milliseconds, narrowly beating Drew's team to the wall in the 200 medley relay.
Tara Wiarda, Bella Mugno, Emily Albans and
Izzy Giannetto combined to clock a time of 1:48.31, the fastest time in the Landmark this season.
After an early take off led to a Catholic disqualification in the 800 free relay, the Cardinals ended the night with 40 points to sit in seventh place. They are just eight points behind Goucher in sixth and 12 points from overtaking Juniata to break into the top five.
Day two of action begins tomorrow with prelims starting at 10 a.m. and final beginning at 6 p.m.
