Men's 4x400 Record Falls, Di Nicolantonio Takes Division III Lead at Patriot Games

FAIRFAX, Va. - Catholic senior pole vaulter Christian Di Nicolantonio vaulted into the top spot in Division III so far this indoor season with a 5.13-meter pole vault at the Patriot Games on Saturday afternoon. The local product led a strong weekend for the men's indoor program. 

Di Nicolantonio won the event with the 5.13m leap, besting George Mason's Colton Ocetnik by .10 meters. He leads Division III by .03, taking the top spot from Centre's Logan Isaacs. 

The final track event of the weekend for the Cardinals also proved to be a big one as Kendrick DuPree, Marco Indelicato, Peter Winter, and Nick Troy cruised to a program record time of 3:25.80 in the 4x400 relay. The time places them third in Landmark Conference history. 

Conor Gross had a big weekend for Catholic, jumping into fifth on the Catholic all-time list in the mile as he clocked a speedy time of 4:16.22. His time is the fourth-fastest in Landmark Conference history and places him 18th in Division III at this point in the season. Gross also competed in the 800, finishing ninth with a time of 2:00.58. 

Helping the Cardinals set the 4x400 record, Winter also moved up in Catholic history in the 800 as the freshman posted a time of 1:58.23 to jump into eighth on the list, just edging past Gross. 

Joe Wolfe and Joey Locke both had big nights on Friday as Wolfe remained fifth on the all-time Catholic list with a new personal best time of 15:36.78. Locke moved into ninth as he shaved 18 seconds off his previous best time to finish in 15:52.14. 

DuPree earned an event victory, crossing the line first in the 500 with a time of 1:06.23, just missing his personal best time set last season. 

Also earning an event victory was Sam Compton as he blazed to victory in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.01. Compton, Jevontae Fearwell, and Sebastian Lopez all qualified for the final and placed in the top six. Fearwell and Lopez also ran the 200, finishing second and sixth. 

In the 60 hurdles, Cayden Drost took over sole possession of seventh on the Catholic all-time performance list, clocking a time of 9.26 in the prelims before improving that to 9.22 in the final to place sixth. 

Freshman Mark Enamorado jumped into fifth-place on the all-time Catholic list in the weight throw with a 13.27-meter toss that placed him 13th.
