Women’s Swimming and Diving Takes Third at Yellow Jacket Invitational

ASHLAND, Va. - The Catholic women's swimming and diving team returned to the pool on Sunday for day three at the Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Randolph-Macon. The Cardinals took third at the meet, finishing with 586.5 points.

Molly Foltz and Maura Sadowski took on the 1650 Freestyle for the Cardinals to kick off Sunday, both finishing top-10 in the event. Foltz took sixth, finishing with a time of 17:56.06 while Sadowski finished in ninth with a time of 18:06.28.

Tara Wiarda had another great day in the pool, taking home the silver in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:05.61. She improved on her preliminary time of 2:06.18.

Anna Dymek also made her mark at the event, placing second in the 200 Breaststroke, with a time of 2:23.45. Delainey Brandt finished just seconds later in sixth with a time of 2:28.47.

Two teams of four took on the 400 Freestyle Relay for the Cardinals, both finishing in the top-10. Adriel Marrero, Claire Brockmann, Emily Blaskovich, and Sadowski took sixth in the event with a time of 3:39.30, while Katie Nalepka, Keriann Collison, Grace Kelly and Taylor O'Neil took eighth with a time of 3:43.37.

The Cardinals will take a mid-season hiatus before returning to the pool on Saturday, January 10 in Fredericksburg, Va. where they will take on Mary Washington. The meet is set for 1:00 p.m.
