WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Catholic women's swimming and diving team held their home debut in the DuFour Center Pool on Friday evening where they took on Randolph-Macon. The Cardinals had some notable performances in the meet from leading them to victory over the Yellow Jackets 153-108.
Catholic started the meet off hot in the 200 Medley Relay with
Claire Brockmann,
Anna Dymek,
Delainey Brandt, and
Tara Wiarda taking first in the event with a time of 1:52.22. Brandt went on to see the first-place spot in the 100 Breaststroke, finishing with a time of 1:09.57.
Dymek, Brockmann, and Wiarda also saw the gold in a few events. Brandt finished first in the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 2:17.15, and the 100 Butterfly with a time of 59.00, the only sub-minute time of the event. Brockmann picked up the win in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 55.66 while Wiarda saw first-place in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:10.86.
Maura Sadowski went solo in the 1000 Freestyle on behalf of the Cardinals and maintained the lead for the whole event, taking first against three Randolph-Macon Competitors. Sadowski finished with a time of 11:12.57.
The Cardinals will hit the road again in November, first with a meet in Elizabethtown, Pa. where they will face the Blue Jays on November 15 at 1 p.m.
