Sobkowicz and McMahon Race Their Way into the Record Books at Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Catholic women's cross country team traveled up to Lehigh University to participate in the Paul Short Run. The Cardinals participated in both the Open Women's 6k and the Women's College White 6k.

Freshman Olivia Sobkowicz enters the record books as the second best Catholic women's 6k runner with her time of 21:58.9. Not only that, her time places her with the third best overall 6k performance at Catholic. With this time, she placed 34th out of 404 finishers in the Women's College White 6k.

Sobkowicz was not the only Cardinal to enter the record books in the White 6k. Teammate Laurel McMahon raced a 22:53.7, placing her as the 7th best 6k runner in Catholic history. This performance also was the 9th best 6k performance at Catholic of all time.

Freshman Bridgid Cavanaugh and sophomore Erin Roche also competed in the White 6k and each collected personal best time. Cavanaugh ran a 24:03.2, shaving nearly two minutes off of her previous 6k time. Roche recorded a time of 25:36.4.

Senior Mia LaMarra had the best finish for the Cardinals in the Open 6k with a time of 26:46.8.

Up next, the Cardinals will compete at the Inter-Regional Border Battle hosted by Rowan University on October 18th at 11 AM.
