TOWSON, Md. – Junior goalkeeper
Owen Allegro was named the Landmark Defensive Athlete of the week after picking up two shutouts in goal for the Cardinals last week, it was announced today. It is the second time in Allegro's career that he has earned the award and he is the first Cardinal player to do so this season.
Allegro picked up a pair of shutouts in a 1-0-1 week for Catholic, starting it off by making a save in a 1-0 victory over Susquehanna. He followed that up by making a season-high six saves against 16th-ranked Scranton to help the Cardinals earn a 0-0 draw.
Allegro is currently second in the conference in goals allowed with nine and is third in the conference in goals allowed average at .615. He is top 10 in several DIII program categories for his career such as he is second in career wins (31), third in career GAA (1.00), sixth in career shutouts (12) and seventh in career saves (129).
The Cardinals regular season finale is scheduled for Tuesday, October 28 to take on Juniata. Kickoff is set for 7 pm at Gibbel Stadium.
