SHAWNEE ON DELAWARE, Pa. – The Catholic women's golf team played in its final meet of the fall season over the weekend, the Landmark Conference Preview. All eight of the teams in the conference competed in the two-day event and the Cardinals came out on top of the standings in convincing fashion.
The Cardinals shot a team score of 653 over the two rounds to top the field by 23 strokes. Catholic shot a 334 as a team in the first round to hold a four stroke lead heading into Sunday. They followed up with a dominant performance during the second round, shaving 15 strokes off the first round with a 319 to comfortably come away with the victory. The 653 team score was the ninth-lowest two day team score in program history.
Gabi Courtney had the best finish over the weekend for the Cardinals as she shot a 159 over the two rounds to come in second at +15. Courtney started her weekend off by shooting a 79 in the opening round which included 10 pars and a birdie. She shot an 80 during the second round and found her groove on the back nine, picking up an eagle, birdie and two pars.
Brooke Smith also came away with a top five finish, coming in fourth place after finishing at 162 (+18). Smith bounced back nicely after shooting an 86 in the first round, shaving 10 strokes off her score with a 76 in the second round, which matched the best score any golfer had in a round over the weekend. Smith finished the front nine with a streak of two birdies and four pars. She added another birdie and five pars on the back nine to secure her spot in fourth place.

Mary McGuire and
Meghan Mullen were the other three competitors for Catholic and all three finished in a tie for 10th place with a two round score of 170. Wright shot an 87 and 83, McGuire had an 82 and 88 and Mullen finished with a 90 and an 80.
The Cardinals concluded the season taking first place in each of the last five events they play in. Today's event concludes the fall golf season as the Cardinals will gear up for the championship season in the spring.
