PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Catholic women's rowing team traveled to Philadelphia, Pa. to compete in the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta and collected a win in the Women's Club Championship Eights for Division III.
The Head of the Schuylkill is a two-day regatta along the Schuylkill River and is noted as one of the most challenging courses in the country. This is the Cardinals' sixth time competing in this at this event.
The highlight of the day was the Women's Club Championship Eights. The Cardinals placed first for Division III boats and raced 13th overall.
Sadie Mattaliano sat in the coxswain position.
Anne Mountcastle took to the stroke with
Ellie Tynan at the bow. The other members in the eight were
Adelaide Murrey (2),
Alexia Levine (3),
Katherine Elizabeth Ma (4),
Maeve Donnelly (5),
Bridget Robben (6), and
Claudia Hindley (7). The team collected a time of 13:48:945. On the St. Joe's portion of the river, they raced a 3:39.9. The Cardinals raced a 9:30.4 in the Angels section.
In the Women's Championship Fours with a Coxswain, the Cardinals came in 32nd overall with a time of 16:51.124. Mattalieno once again sat as the coxswain with Robben as her stroke and
Madelyn Bronson on the bow.
Madelyn Smith sat in the third position and
Giada Mirjah in the second. The other Catholic team in this event raced a time of 15:32.953. This team consisted of
Maely Gomez (cox),
Natalia Pardo-Neira (stroke),
Annalise Carlson (3),
Sabrina Apelian (2), and
Marelyn Diaz (bow).
This was the final race of the fall season for the Cardinals.
