Dymek and Brandt Pick Up First Place Finishes at American

WASHINGTON, D.C.  – The Catholic women's swimming and diving team took on American on Saturday afternoon and fell to the Eagles, 155-53.

Despite the loss on Saturday, the Cardinals had several solid performances throughout the meet. Anna Dymek put together a solid all around day, starting things off by taking first place in the 100 butterfly. She narrowly picked up the win by .05 seconds with a personal-best time of 59.35. She also came away with a second place finish in the 100 breaststroke, clocking in at 1:09.94.

Delainey Brandt was the one who bested Dymek in the 100 breaststroke as she swam a season's-best time of 1:08.67 to narrowly top her teammate. Brandt also competed in the 200 freestyle and finished with a time of 2:01.87.

Claire Brockmann swam in the 50 freestyle and finished in third place, less than second behind first place, finishing the race at 25.53. Adriel Marrero and Emily Blaskovich placed second and third respectively in the 100 freestyle with times of 56.53 and 56.69. 

Grace Kelly, Blaskovich, Brockmann and Marrero were a part of the 200 freestyle relay team and swam to a second place finish with a slightly slower time than the first place team as they finished at 1:43.39.

The Cardinals next meet will be their first home one of the season on Saturday, October 25 when they take on Scranton. The meet is set to start at 1 pm.
