Azaria Tewodros was named Landmark Offensive Athlete of the Week for his contributions in a 2-0 week for Catholic, it was announced today. It is the first time in Tewodros' career that he has earned the award and he is the second Cardinal player to receive the honor this season.
Tewodros started his week off with the opening goal of the game in a 3-1 victory for Catholic over Goucher. He notched his second goal of the week, which was also the first goal of the match, in the Cardinals 3-0 win over Wilkes. These two wins extended Catholic's Landmark regular season unbeaten streak to 30 games. It was the first time in Tewodros' career that he had scored in back-to-back games.
Tewodros is second on the team in goals this season with four, which is his career-high and he also has an assist to his name on the year. His four goals are tied for the fifth-most in the Landmark this season and he also has nine points on the year which is his career-high and is tied for the sixth-most in the conference.
The Cardinals next match will be on Tuesday, October 14 at home against Landmark foe Elizabethtown. Kickoff is set for 7 pm on Carlini Field.
