Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Catholic women's tennis team took on Frostburg State back at home on Family Weekend. Despite clinching the point in doubles, the Cardinals fell short against the Bobcats in the match, 5-2.
Meaghan Laniewski and
Ella Knox picked up the first doubles win for the Cardinals in the number three spot, cruising to a 6-1 win. After Catholic lost number one doubles, the point came down to
Ava Niggemeier and
Mairead O'Hara at two doubles and the pair was able to win a well-played set 6-4 to clinch the doubles point.
The singles win for Catholic came in the number six position from
Marcela Peña. She took the match in straight sets, winning 6-4 and 6-1 to earn the first singles win of her collegiate career.
The Cardinals are back in action on Saturday, October 18 against Gettysburg on the road. The match will start at 12 pm on the Bullets Tennis Courts.
