WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Catholic women's swimming and diving team earned a Pope's Cup victory after defeating Marymount (Va.) on Friday afternoon during senior day. The Cardinals won seven events en rout to a 125-60 win over the Saints.
The three seniors each placed within the top-three in their individual event and combined for a second-place finish in the 200 free relay.
Caitlin Heise touched the wall first in the 500 free with a time of 5:37.31 whileÂ
Ava Snyder topped the leader board in the 200 free with a time of 2:02.62.
Kathryn O'Hara snagged third place in the 200 IM with a time of 2:29.28.
The trio also picked up a second-place finish in the 200 free relay alongside teammateÂ
Tara Wiarda. The veteran squad clocked 1:48.22, touching the wall just behind the team of
Emily Blaskovich, Izzy Giannetto, Claire Brockmann, and
Emily Albans who nabbed the victory with a 1:45.69.
Several other Cardinals raced to first-place finishes including
Maura Sadowski in the 100 free (season-best 57.00),
Madison Gozdan in the 200 IM (2:22.00), Blaskovich in the 50 free (25.88), Albans in the 100 back (1:03.11).Â
Catholic has a quick turnaround as they travel to Salisbury for a away meet tomorrow afternoon. The non-conference match-up is set to start at 1 p.m.
