WASHINGTON, D.C. – Catholic men's swimming and diving picked up its sixth win of the season after defeating Marymount at the Dufour Center Pool on Friday afternoon. The Pope's Cup match-up saw the Cardinals outscored the Saints 97.5-88.5 to secure the win.
Seven seniors were honored before the meet.
Jackson Hicks led the veteran group with one gold and two silver medals on the day. He took first place in the 200 IM after clocking a season-best time of 2:01.78. His runner-up performances came when he swam the breaststroke leg of the 200 medley relay (1:37.99) and the 100 breast (59.52).
Catholic stacked two 200 free relay teams with seniors for the final event of the day.
Tristan Burrola, Jack Gould, and
Joseph Loel combined with
Paul Lacava to placed third with a time of 1:34.88.
Dylan McGuire, Michael Coppola, and
Luke Grossi were joined by Hicks to register fifth with a time of 1:40.19.Â
Other notable performances included a victory from
John Holler in the 500 free to go along with a season best of 55.79 in the 100 fly, a
Shawn Mashburn win in the 200 free with a 1:49.19, and a season best of 55.63 in the 100 back for aÂ
Sean Kelty win.Â
Catholic continues its full weekend in the pool with a trip to Salisbury tomorrow, January 25. The away meet at Maggs Physical Activities Center Swimming Pool will start at 1 p.m.Â
