HAGERSTOWN, Md. - Catholic men's golf shot a program best round of 288 (E) on Sunday to move up into third place at the Cardinal Fall Classic.
Overall, Catholic shot a score of 591 (+15) for the weekend, finishing nine shots back of Stevenson and 30 back of Division II Shepherd.
Mario Ventresca shot a Sunday 68 (-4) to move up into a tie for ninth place with a score of 145 (+1) for the tournament. Ventresca had six birdies on the day, shooting a 33 on the front nine. Ventresca and
Connor Desjardins both shot 68, tied for the lowest score of the tournament. They become the fourth and fifth players in program history to shoot a round under 70, joining
Colin Coogan, Kaden Kinard, and
Liam Bohm.
Freshman
Timothy Cleary shot an even par 72 this afternoon to finish in a tie for 15th at the event. Cleary improved his Saturday score by four shots with three birdies on the day.
Joe Earley snuck into a tie for 19th with a 74, leaving him five shots over par for the tournament. Earley carded three birdies on Sunday.
Matthew Dietl finished 25th while
Darren Horton finished 41st. The Cardinals sent out two squads this weekend with the Catholic "B" group finishing just one shot back of its other team.
Jack Davenport led the way, finishing in a tie for 19th with Earley.
Next up for Catholic is the Stevenson Invitational on Monday, September 30.
