WASHINGTON, D.C. - Catholic senior pitcher
Camden Mounts is the 2024 recipient of the Matt Kurkjian Ultimate Teammate Award it was announced last month by head coach
Ross Natoli.
Mounts, a senior left-handed pitcher from Alexandria, Va., appeared in two games before missing much of the season with an injury.
"Despite being injured in what was supposed to be his best year athletically, Cam has excelled as a proven leader both on and off the field," said Natoli. "No player I have coached over the past 4 years has cared more about his teammates."
Established in 2023, the award is bestowed annually to an outstanding Catholic University Baseball Senior student-athlete, who personifies the attributes that made Matt Kurkjian, BA Class of 1978, a beloved figure in Cardinal Baseball history and the ultimate teammate. Day in and day out throughout his career, Mounts ('24), deeply cared about the success of his team far beyond his personal accomplishments and rallied his teammates to respect and play the game the right way, compete to the fullest, and prepare for success both on and off the field. He was always at his best when his best was needed for his team. Like Matt Kurkjian, Mounts will forever be held in the highest regard by all those who truly care about Catholic University Baseball.
"
He has worked tirelessly, and selflessly, to reach his full potential and has inspired his teammates to do whatever it takes to prepare for success and compete to the fullest both on and off the field," said Natoli. "Cam makes everyone around him better and I can't wait to see what the future holds for him."
