WASHINGTON, D.C. - Catholic University Athletics and Director of Athletics/Associate VP
Kevin Robinson are excited to announce the hiring of
Aaron Jahnke as the department's Director of Sport Performance. Jahnke will be the first official Director of Sport Performance for the Catholic Athletics program.
"The Director of Sport Performance position is one we have prioritized to enhance our wellness offerings and the student-athlete experience," said Robinson. "To have a position dedicated to the strength and conditioning of our student-athletes is vital to the success of all of our athletic programs and the department."
Jahnke comes to Catholic after continuing his education and professional career as the Graduate Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach at his alma mater, Salisbury University. Jahnke developed and implemented strength and conditioning training programs for football, basketball, baseball, soccer, and tennis while at Salisbury while also having supervision responsibility over interns. He was also a facility manager for Maggs Physical Activity Center, supervising employees and ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the space.
"I am excited to contribute to the growth, success, and development of Catholic University athletes," said Jahnke. "As the Director of Sport Performance, my vision to develop Catholic's student-athletes both physically and mentally for competition as well as preparing them for lifelong success."
Prior to his work as a graduate assistant, Jahnke completed internships at the University of Maryland and Salisbury, growing his knowledge in the strength and conditioning space. Jahnke's other roles outside of college athletics include coach/personal training work at Coached by Plez in Damascus, Md., Fox Swim Club in Frederick, Md., Oakdale High School in Ijamsville, Md., and Mad Fitness in Frederick, Md.

"He comes highly recommended from Salisbury University where he played a pivotal role in their sports performance success. Aaron's dedication to his craft and his enthusiasm for helping student-athletes achieve their potential in their respective sports were evident from the first time we spoke with him."
The Salisbury graduate holds a long list of certifications including his CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist), USAW Weightlifting Level 1 Coach, CPT (Certified Personal Trainer), and Plus Plyos. As a student-athlete, Jahnke was a two-time all-conference selection and a captain during his final campaign for a highly successful Sea Gull program.
"Growing up in the DMV, I know how special this area is, and I am looking forward to the opportunity to give back and contribute to the community," said Jahnke.
