Catholic Athletics Announces Hall of Fame Class of 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Catholic University Athletics will induct seven new members into its Hall of Fame this fall while also honoring a key contributor to the department with the Pryzbyla Award. The ceremony will take place on Friday, September 20 as a part of the Cardinal Weekend festivities. Catholic Athletics will host its annual golf tournament that morning at Blue Mash Golf Course before returning to D.C. to honor the Hall of Fame Class of 2024. The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. in a location to be determined on campus. More details will follow in the coming weeks. 

Along with the seven athletes recognized, Joseph Carlini will receive the Edward J. Pryzbyla Award for Support of Catholic Athletics. The award was established by the Board of Governors of the CUA Alumni Association to honor alumni/alumnae who have demonstrated outstanding philanthropic support to the athletic program of Catholic University. Named in honor of Edward. J. Przybyla, an esteemed alumnus and avid supporter of Athletics, the award aims to celebrate individuals who have made contributions to the advancement and success of the university's athletic endeavors. 

Now let's meet the 2024 Catholic Athletics Hall of Fame class. 

Matt Hilleary - Men's Basketball ('03)

  • 2x NABC Second Team All-American (2002, 2003)

  • 2x Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Year (2002, 2003)

  • 2001 Second Team All-Capital Athletic 
  • 11th in Catholic history with 1,622 points
  • 852 Career Rebounds, 273 Career Blocks (Top 5 In Program History in both)
  • Key member of lone team national championship in Catholic history (2001)
  • NCAA Division III Final Four All-Tournament Team
 

Laura Kaye - Women's Soccer ('06)

  • 2005 NSCAA Third Team All-Mid Atlantic Region (1st WSOC player in program history to earn All-Region honors)
  • 2005 Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Year
  • 2x First Team All-Capital Athletic (2004, 2005)
  • 2003 Second Team All-Capital Athletic
  • Capital Athletic Conference 25th Anniversary Team
  • 2nd in Catholic history with 49 goals
  • 2nd in Catholic history with 117 points
  • T-2nd in Catholic history with 19 assists
  • Led Catholic to best season in program history in 2005 - 18 wins, unbeaten regular season, CAC Championship & first trip to NCAA Tournament
  • Member of the women's basketball and women's track & field teams

Kate Robinson - Women's Lacrosse ('11)

Matt Taylor - Football ('96)

  • 2nd in Catholic history with 52 touchdowns
  • First player to record two 1,000-yard rushing seasons in program history
  • Program Record Holder for Rushing TDs in a season (22)
  • 2nd in Catholic single-season history in total TDs (22)
  • 2nd and 8th-most rushing yards in a single season ('96, '94)
 

Christine Thornton Corrigan - Women's Lacrosse ('05)

  • 2005 Third Team IWLCA All-American (1st AA in program history)
  • 2005 First Team All-South Atlantic Region
  • 2x Second Team All-Capital Athletic (2004, 2005)
  • Program Record Holder in Ground Balls with 272
  • Program Record Holder in Caused Turnovers with 146
  • 2nd in Catholic history in caused turnovers in a season with 47
  • Helped Catholic into the IWLCA Top 20 Rankings for the first time in '05
 

Richard Weible -  Men's Soccer ('76)
