Tozzi Headlines Three Cardinals Selected to All-Region Teams

Catholic's Roman Tozzi was named Region 5 Pitcher of the Year by both D3baseball.com and ABCA/Rawlings to headline three Cardinals to notch all-region honors in 2024. Zach Burton (both) and Cody Bosak (d3baseball) joined Tozzi as Catholic representatives on the two all-region teams this morning.

The 2024 Landmark Conference Pitcher of the Year, Tozzi had a tremendous first season for Catholic after transferring in from Barton. The lefty out of Glen Mills, Pa. went 8-2 with a 2.45 ERA in 69.2 innings for the Cardinals this season. After starting the year in the bullpen and stretching out, Tozzi became the staff ace, striking out 76 batters and tossing a pair of complete game shutouts. Tozzi appeared in 13 games, making 10 starts while holding opposing hitters to a .167 batting average. Tozzi ranks sixth nationally in hits allowed per nine (5.30) and 20th nationally in WHIP (0.98). He made six starts this season of at least 6.0 innings and struck out five or more batters eight separate times. Tozzi had three double-digit strikeout games, all three coming in Landmark Conference play. 

Burton earns a pair of all-region nods after completing one of the best offensive seasons in program history. Scattered throughout the single-season record books, Burton started 46 games while hitting .381 with an on-base percentage of .537. Burton's OBP ranks him in the top 20 nationally as does his total of 19 doubles. The graduate first baseman has racked up more than 150 hits, 125 runs, 100 walks, 100 RBI and 50 extra-base hits for his Catholic career. An on-base machine, Burton holds an OBP of .469 through 141 career games played. The All-Landmark Second Team selection totaled 20 multi-hit games in 2024 and drove in multiple runs in 15 contests. 

Finally, Bosak garnered recognition from D3baseball after a breakthrough junior campaign. The Woodbridge, Va. native appeared in nine games, making seven starts. He went 4-1 with a 1.84 ERA in 49.0 innings. Bosak struck out 58 batters and held opposing hitters to a .186 batting average. Bosak made five starts of 6.0 or more innings, striking out five or more batters in seven of his nine appearances in 2024. Bosak picked up national attention after striking out 14 in a complete game shutout versus Drew on April 7. For his career, Bosak has struck out 135 batters in 132.1 innings.
