BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Catholic went into extra innings in its second game of the Landmark Conference Tournament before falling to Moravian, 2-1. Catholic will face off with Lycoming for a spot in the Landmark Championship game versus Moravian.
Aubrynn Arcement pitched 7.2 innings, allowing just one earned run in an impressive effort to keep the Cardinals in the game throughout. The All-Landmark First Team selection allowed just three hits and struck out two, but an unearned run in the eighth proved to be the difference. Natalie Otto picked up the win, tossing 8.0 innings of one-run ball for Moravian.
Amy Gastright had two of Catholic's six hits while
Alex Garza went 1-1 and drew three walks out of the lead-off spot.
Sophia Fike had the lone extra-base hit and RBI, driving in Garza in the fifth with her ninth double of the season.
Moravian manufactured a run in the bottom of the eighth to come away victorious as Ajala Elmore singled to open the frame. After a sacrifice bunt moved Elmore to second, she moved up to third as Sarah DeStefano grounded out before scoring on a fielding error by
Mia Szap.
The winner of the Cardinals and the Warriors will take on Moravian in the Landmark Championship tomorrow.
