WEST CHESTER, Pa. — On the back of the first outdoor championship in program history, the Catholic University women's track and field team sent a handful of athletes to compete at the West Chester Last Chance Meet on Friday with hopes of qualifying for upcoming NCAA Division III Championships.

Newly crowned Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year Brigid Byrnes added another accolade to her already-impressive list to headline Catholic's participation in the meet by setting a new program record in the 100-meter hurdles. Byrnes went 15.29 to improve on her personal best by .23 seconds and set the new program standard.

Byrnes also ran in the 400mH, placing second behind Clare Marsh who won the event in 1:03.57. Marsh was just .20 seconds off of her program record and clocked her fastest time in the event this season. Byrnes went 1:04.32 as fellow Cardinal Mia McConnell came in third with a time of 1:07.74.

Erin Buckley and Sarah Schumacher went one-two in the 200m as Buckley won the event with a new personal-best time. Buckley dashed home in 26.12, producing the second-fastest time in program history and hopping Schumacher, who ran under 27 seconds for the first time in her collegiate career on the day (26.92), on the all-time list.

Schumacher also lowered her personal-best time in the 100m by .01 seconds, producing a dash of 13.02. Buckley was just .04 slower than her best-ever dash, clocking a time of 12.69.

Catholic will send athletes to the Widener Final Qualifier on Monday in what will truly be every Cardinals' last chance to produce a time fast enough or mark good enough to qualify for NCAA Championships at the end of May.
