D'Addezio Earns First Collegiate Victory as Cards Shutout McDaniel

Box Score Madison, NJ – The Catholic University women's tennis team earned its seventh win of the season with a convincing 9-0 victory over McDaniel on Sunday afternoon. 

Mairead O'Hara and Ava Niggemeier combined once again at No. 1 doubles and picked up an 8-1 win. The duo dominated the match from start to finish to get the Cardinals going early.

At No. 2 doubles, Meaghan Laniewski and Stephanie Menendez found themselves in an even battle the start. The match was tied at 2-2 before the pair went on a tear to win the final six games and take home the 8-2 victory. This marked Menendez's first win of the spring season. 

McDaniel was missing a player which forced them to forfeit No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles. Catholic reamined undefeated heading into in singles action. 

Jane Krukiel face a strong competitor at No. 1 singles. The graduate student held her ground and landed crucial points to win 6-3, 6-4.  Paige Brightwell followed with a win at No. 2 singles. Her first match was highly competitive with a final score of 6-3 before she won the second easily, 6-1. 

Alyson Morris and Ava Kaloustian also performed well. Kaloustian shut out her opponent and Morris only gave up two games in her 14 game match. 

Samantha D'Addezio competed in her first collegiate match and took home an intense victory. She lost the first set but came back to steal a win in the second. The rookie faced two match points in the third set tiebreak and was down 7-9 before rallying to win 14-12. 

The Cardinals will now turn their attention to Juniata for an away match on Sunday, April 13. The contest is scheduled to start at 1 p.m
