Buckley, Nussey Program-Record Runs Highlight Successful Trip to George Mason

| By:

FAIRFAX, Va. — Two program records fell for the Catholic University women's track and field team on Saturday at George Mason.

Erin Buckley broke a program record in the 100-meter dash to headline a slew of strong performances for Catholic on day two of the Dalton Ebanks Invitational. Buckley squeaks past teammate Ellie Bixenman with a 12.67 second sprint as she placed 16th in the event with a large grouping of Division I competition.

In the same event, Sarah Schumacher moved up to fourth in program history with a 13.03-second run while Felicity Giampietro added herself to the list with a 13.08-second run to take fifth place on the Catholic Outdoor Performance List.

Sticking with the sprints, Megan Burns joined the aforementioned trio to post the fourth-fastest 4x100 relay time in the history of the program as they crossed the finish line in 50.53 seconds.

In the 4x400 relay, Mia McConnell, Clare Marsh, Zoey Brown and Brigid Byrnes posted the second-fastest time in the program's history as they placed fifth with a time of 4:02.52.  After a strong showing in the 400 hurdles on Friday, Marsh placed 18th in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.01.

Molly Maxwell and Alicia Vo both hit marks worthy of the top 10 in Catholic program history as Vo's triple jump of 10.09 meters is second in program history while Maxwell's 34.37-meter discus throw is good for seventh.

In the final event of the night, Georgia Nussey set a new program standard in the 10,000-meter run in her first-ever competitive attempt at that distance. She went 38:18.73 to place fifth on the evening and move into fourth all-time in Landmark Conference history in the event.

Steve Rahn's team will return to action next weekend at Bucknell.
