Box Score MADISON, N.J. — The Catholic University men's tennis team dropped a conference contest to Drew on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Charlie Robbins picked up the only victory of the day for Catholic, triumphing in a back-and-forth affair at No. 6 singles.
Robbins was able to claim the first set after overturning a 1-4 deficit. He dropped the second frame despite battling back to 4-5 before he claimed the win in the all-important third-set tiebreak.
James Earwood and Diego Romo dropped a close battle at No. 1 doubles, 6-8. The pair equalized at 6-6 before their challengers from Drew took the final two games. Earwood was able to take the first set at No. 2 singles but his opponent battled back to claim the win in three sets.
It has been an impressive year for head coach Nate Farlow and his team. This is the first loss in Landmark Conference play as the squad sits at 10-5 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
Catholic will look to right the ship tomorrow as the Cardinals travel to McDaniel for a non-conference tilt. Opening service is set for 1 p.m.
