Tozzi Tabbed Landmark Conference Pitcher of the Week after Complete-Game Shutout

| By:

TOWSON, Md. — For the second consecutive week, the Landmark Conference Pitcher of the Week is a member of the Catholic University baseball team. After Cody Bosak earned the honor last week, Roman Tozzi has received the recognition on Monday for his stellar performance on the mound against Wilkes on Saturday.

The sophomore transfer tossed a complete-game shutout for the second weekend in a row, allowing just five hits and walking none. He fanned 10 Colonels in the 109-pitch effort, earning the victory to move to an impressive 6-0 on the year. The 10 strikeouts matches his career high.

Tozzi has now won each of his last five starts, pitching at least five innings and allowing no more than two earned runs in all of them. The sophomore has established his position as the ace of the staff, boasting a 1.31 ERA.

Tozzi's effort helped the Cardinals secure a series win, taking two of three in Wilkes-Barre. The two wins helped strengthen Catholic's positions in an extremely tight race at the top of the Landmark Conference standings. Six teams are currently separated by just one game in the win column as they fight for five playoff spots.

The Cardinals will host Elizabethtown on Tuesday for game two of season series. The Blue Jays currently sit at 10-4 and own a half-game lead over Catholic and Wilkes for the conference's top seed. First pitch in the vital contest is set for 3:30 p.m.
