VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -
Emily Moehringer sped to a 13th-place finish in the 800 Preliminaries on Friday afternoon at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, resetting her own program record and jumping into second all-time on the Landmark's Performance List.
Just sneaking into the field as the 20th and final seed, Moehringer defeated seven runners slotted ahead of her as she crossed the finish line in 2:12.31, shaving nearly two seconds off of her previous program record time. Moehringer was within one second of four other competitors in the event. The junior placed fifth in the opening heat, setting the tempo for a fast-paced event as five athletes finished in under 2:11.00. Moehringer came out of the gates with good speed, bursting through the first 200 in 30.74 seconds.
Moehringer becomes the second indoor All-American in program history, joining Andrea Galeano who finished sixth in the weight throw in 2019.
