BU DAVID HEMERY VALENTINE INVITATIONAL
Emily Moehringer,
Apolline Gaspers, and
Brigid Byrnes all broke program records on a successful day for Catholic women's track & field up in Boston at the famed Valentine Invitational.Â
Moehringer trimmed three seconds off her own program record time of 2:17.57 in the 800-meter run on Friday as she crossed the finish line in 2:14.52. Unadjusted, her time would rank in the top 15 in Division III this season and is the second-fastest time in the South Region this year.Â
Gaspers was the final women's competitor of the day for Catholic in Boston on Friday and she did not disappoint, cruising to a new top mile time in program history. Gaspers clocked in at 5:01.06, breaking
Lauren Cerda's two-week old record by just over two seconds. This marks the second time in three weeks the women's mile record has fallen after standing for over 40 years.Â
Continuing upon a reoccurring theme this season, Byrnes broke another program record! The freshman made it five individual program records plus a relay record as she ran a 26.11 in the 200 to break
Danielle Caruccio's 2017 record of 26.72. She moves into the top 10 in Landmark Conference history after brushing by her previous personal best time of 27.17.Â
Running alongside Moehringer in the 800, Cerda continued her impressive campaign, crossing the finish line in 2:16.59 to bump her into second all-time on the Catholic Performance List. She bested her time from the Robert Comstock Cardinal Classic by nearly six seconds.Â
Kate Inglis and
Clare Marsh also clocked in strong performances on Friday as Inglis kicked the day off for Catholic with a time of 10:19.50 in the 3,000. This is a 23-second improvement from her time at the Cardinal Classic and is just 11 seconds shy of her school record time. Marsh competed strongly in the 400, finishing in 1:00.84.Â
