BOSTON, Mass. - The quartet of
Apolline Gaspers,
Brigid Byrnes,
Emily Moehringer, and
Kate Inglis combined to set a new program record in the DMR at the Boston University David Hemery Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Competing against a slew of Division I, II, and III competition in the event, the Catholic women's DMR team crossed the line in 11:53.46, setting a Landmark Conference record in the process. Catholic's time will put them in the top 10 nationally and in contention to qualify for NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships next month.
Gaspers ran the opening leg for the Cardinals, giving way to Byrnes who tapped in around the 3:36.89 mark for the 400-meter portion. Catholic reached the 1,600-meter mark in 4:36.11 when Moehringer stepped in to run 800 meters in 2:12.89. Finally, Inglis took over for the final 1,600 meters, bringing Catholic to the finish line.
Gaspers, Byrnes, and Moehringer each add a second program record to their tally this weekend.
The Cardinals will gear up over the next two weeks for the Landmark Conference Championships scheduled for February 24.
