HAMPTON, Va. — The Catholic women's swimming and diving team moved into third place at the Yellow Jacket Invitational on Saturday. After sitting in fourth after one day of competition, the Cardinals scored 495 points on day two to surpass Randolph-Macon for a spot in the top three.
Bella Mugno made the finals in two events on the day, securing a spot in the 400 IM and the 100 breast final. She battled against a strong field in the 400 IM and placed eighth with a time of 4:49.30. In the 100 breast, she placed sixth with a time of 1:07.45.
Madison Gozdan also made the 100 breast final, swimming a 1:09.67 to place eighth.
The 100 back final featured
Tara Wiarda and
Emily Albans. Wiarda clocked a 58.48 to place second by half a second while Albans nabbed fifth with a 59.96.
The Cardinals raced two teams in each of the relays and placed identically in both. The 200 medley and 800 free relay saw Catholic secure fifth and eighth-place finishes.
The last day of the Yellow Jacket Invitational will begin tomorrow at 10 a.m.
