FAIRFAX, Va. – The Catholic women's rowing team wrapped up the fall season with a trip to the Head of the Occoquan at Sandy Run Regional Park on Saturday.
The Cardinals started the day with the Women's Collegiate Varsity 8+ race.

Mary Igoe (1) combined to finish eleventh, posting a time of 19:01.749. Catholic was just 2.5 seconds off pace to make the top 10 and beat out five boats on the day.Â
Catholic also raced two novice boats at the event. The Women's Collegiate Novice 4+ of
Sadie Mattaliano (coxswain),
Maddie Smith (4),
Madelyn Bronson (3),
Clare Gallagher (2), and
Marelyn Diaz (1) navigated the course in 23:31.907 to place fifth out of eight boats. The young crew crossed the finish line just a minute and 30 seconds behind the first place team, Penn State, who clocked a 22:01.805.Â

Christina Solomonides (1) took eighth with at time of 23:26.823. The field featured 13 crews with Catholic beating out Bryn Mawr (23:26.823), Loyola (24:01.269), George Mason A (24:51.479), St. Johns (25:59.868), and George Mason B (26:36.505).Â
The Cardinals will return to action in the spring for another full slate of regattas.Â
