BACK-TO-BACK! Cardinals Edge Past Moravian, Scranton to Capture Landmark Crown

| By:
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.  —  The Catholic women's cross country team captured its second consecutive Landmark Conference Championship on Saturday afternoon, placing five runners in the top 20 to come away with a narrow victory.

The Cardinals needed every last top finish they could get as they edged out second-place Moravian by just one point, 59-60. Scranton came in third with 61 points with Elizabethtown (80) and Susquehanna (133) rounding out the top five. The 59 points is Catholic's second-best performance as a team at the Landmark Championships.

Catholic's one-point victory over Moravian marks the third time since 2021 that the women's championship was decided by one point.

The highlight runner for Catholic was senior Kate Inglis who topped the entire field with a time of 21:56.49 which was a whole five seconds faster than the next closest runner. Earning the top spot gave Inglis the Landmark Women's Performer of the Year honor for the first time in her career. Inglis became the first runner in program history to earn Performer of the Year and finish on top of the field at the conference championships.

Emily Moehringer was the Cardinals next finisher coming in fifth with a time of 22:38.7. That time was her PR in the 6K and her first top five finish at the Landmark Championships. Her first-team all-conference selection comes after a second team selection in 2023.

Georgia Nussey crossed the finish line in 14th, clocking a time of 23:31.63, just a second shy of her personal best time, set last month at the Border Battle. Her finish earned her Second Team All-Landmark honors after she finished 15th a year ago.

Laurel McMahon and Sophia McNavich rounded out the point-scorers for Catholic as McMahon finished 18th and McNavich placed 21st. McMahon upped her finish from last year by five spots while setting a new PR by more than 15 seconds as she crossed the finish line in 23:53.8. McNavich crossed the finish line in 24:12.7, six seconds off her personal best mark.

With the victory, Steve Rahn and his staff were named Landmark Conference Coaching Staff of the Year for the second straight season.

Next up for Catholic comes the NCAA South Regional Championships on November 16 in Clinton, Miss.
