ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – Catholic men's tennis won a non-conference match on the road on Saturday, defeating St. Mary's 6-1.
James Earwood and
Diego Romo opened the match with a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles.
Drew Andrianopoulos and
Nathaniel Barish followed by taking the No. 3 doubles match, also by a score of 6-4.
Lorenzo Neri and
Paulo Emanuelli combined to win 6-2 at the No. 2 spot, ensuring the Cardinals secured the doubles point and took a 1-0 lead heading into singles. Â
The Cardinals extended their lead to 3-0 thanks to back-to-back wins from Earwood at No. 1 and
Henry Ogden at No. 3.Â
St. Mary's picked up at point with a victory in the No. 3 match to get on the board, but Emanuelli responded by claiming the No. 4 singles match 6-4, 6-1.
Leyton Ramos-Platt then took the No. 5 singles match 6-2, 6-2 to push the Catholic further ahead.Â
Jose Centenera closed out the match with a dominant match at No. 6 singles, winning 6-2, 6-3 to seal the 6-1 victory for Catholic.Â
The Cardinals have a quick turnaround as they return to the courts tomorrow for the Dutchmen Invitational in Annville, Pa. starting at 1 p.m.
