Cardinal Drop Conference Meet to Scranton, 136-158

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Catholic women's swimming and diving team fell, 136-158, in a dual meet against Scranton on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals moved to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the Landmark Conference. 

The Cardinals continued to thrive in relay events, winning both the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Free Relay. In the opening medley relay, Maura Sadowski, Bella MugnoEmily Albans, and Izzy Giannetto started Catholic off with 11 points by clocking a 1:54.07 to narrowly beat out the Royals' squad for the victory.

Albans, Mugno, and Giannetto all picked up individual wins on the day as well. Albans won the 100 Back with a time of 1:01.83 while Giannetto finished first in the 50 Free with a time of 25.85. Mugno won the 200 Breast and 200 IM with times of 2:33.27 and 2:19.10 respectively. 

Madison Gozdan took first in the 100 Breast, touching the wall in 1:10.98. She beat her next closest competitor by over a second and recorded a new season-best. Molly Foltz followed with a win in the 200 Fly, dropping nearly five seconds off her last swim to secure a season-best time of 2:15.62. Foltz also picked up two second place finsihes in the 200 Free (2:03.35) and 500 Free (5:28.85).

Catholic will return to competition next Saturday when they travel to Randolph-Macon for another dual meet.
