Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – Catholic men's tennis hosted the Cardinal Invitational on Sunday at the Dowd Family Tennis Courts. Harford County Community College and Frostburg State made the trip to D.C. to play in the match. The Cardinals won 10 matches on the day including three doubles matches and seven singles matches.Â
On the doubles court,
Paulo Emanuelli and
Lorenzo Neri combined to win 6-2.
Ben Perks and
Henry Ogden also topped their opponent by the same score.
Nathaniel Barish and
Leyton Ramos-Platt rounded out the winning pairing for Catholic with a 6-4 victory.Â
Six different Cardinals won a singles match on the day with
Drew Andrianopoulos picking up two solo wins. He topped his opponent from Frostburg 8-3 before taking down his challenger from Haford 6-4.Â
Perks and Ogden continued their winning ways with hard-fought victories against opponents from Harford. Perk battled to the end to come away on top, 8-6. Ogden also secured key points down the stretch to win 8-4. Barish and Ramos-Platt also both added additional wins to their totals with singles victories. Barish did not allow a game to finish with an impressive 8-0 victory while Ramos-Platt put up a score of 8-3, both against Frostburg opponents.Â
Neri found himself in a highly competitive battle against Frostburg's top player. After back-and-forth play, the rookie fell just short of the upset in a tiebreak.
The Cardinals will finish the fall season with an away match at Susquehanna on October 19. The Landmark Conference battle is set to start at 1 p.m.
