Osai Breaks 60-Meter Hurdle Record at Patriot Games

FAIRFAX, Va. - Chilowe Osai broke his own program record in the 60-meter hurdles on Saturday at the Patriot Games hosted by George Mason to lead the Catholic men's indoor team.  

Osai broke his own program record twice on the day, resetting his previous best mark of 8.69 seconds in the prelims with a time of 8.66 seconds. He placed third in the finals with a time of 8.60 seconds to once again set a new program best. 

The nation's leader in the pole vault, Christian Di Nicolantonio had another strong weekend, hitting a 5.13m to finish second, tying the winning mark of George Mason's Walter Bannerman. It is the second straight week where Di Nicolantonio posted a mark of 5.10 meters or better. 

Gabe Stypul had a strong weekend to set a program record in the heptathlon with a mark of 3,875 points. His total is good for eighth all-time in the Landmark Conference. 

Jordyn Walker earned victories in the long jump and the triple jump with respective jumps of 6.67 meters and 13.87 meters. 

The track trio of Kendrick DuPree, Jevontae Fearwell, and Connor Gross all either grabbed spots or moved up on the Catholic performance lists. DuPree moved into third on the all-time list in the 500 with a time of 1:05.53. Fearwell is ninth all-time in the 400 with a time of 51.72 while Gross is eighth in the 800 with a time of 1:59.60.

Sam Compton, Sebastian Lopez, and Ian Hopkins all had solid competition days for the Cardinals. Compton placed in the top five in the 60-meter dash in both the preliminaries and the semifinals with times of 7.06 before sitting out the final. Lopez ran the 200 in 23.26 while Hopkins ran the 3,000 in 8:58.17.
