WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Catholic University men's swimming and diving team dropped an exciting battle against American University during their first meet on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles outscored the Cardinals 122 to 85.
Freshman
John Holler made his first collegiate appearance in style. He got things started for the Cardinals with a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle, posting a time of 1:46.66. He stayed on top in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 52.57.
Senior
Nathan Ober, junior
Tristan Burrola, and freshman
Sean Kelty finished one, two, three in the 100-yard breaststroke with times of 59.42, 1:03.02 and 1:03.46 respectively. They combined to score 16 points for the team in this event alone.
The Cardinals swept again in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Aiden Miller, Ober,
Teddy Tsakumis, and Holler finished in 1:29.48 to edge out the other eight squads.
Sophomore
Charles Connolly finished second in the one-meter and three-meter dives for the Cardinals. He scored 192.00 points off the one-meter and 176.02 points off the three-meter.
Catholic returns to the pool on October 14 for a Landmark Conference meet against Drew in Madison, New Jersey.
