Zajac joins Catholic Sports Medicine as Associate Head Athletic Trainer

| By:

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Catholic Athletics is pleased to announced that Ashley Zajac will join the Sports Medicine department at Catholic University as the new Associate Head Athletic Trainer effective immediately. She brings a multitude of experiences from various sports and levels of athletics.

Zajac comes to Catholic from Loyola University Maryland, a Division I program, where she was an assistant athletic trainer. While with the Greyhounds, she was in charge of facilitating general medicine and orthopedic doctor's clinics on campus as well as providing treatment for student-athletes. Women's lacrosse and swimming and diving were her primary sport assignments while at Loyola, but she interfaced with every team during practice coverage and walk-in hours.

Prior to Loyola, Zajac was the Associate Athletic Trainer at Good Counsel High School where she assisted in the daily operations of their sports medicine clinic. Zajac also has experience working in concussion screening and strength and conditioning training.

"We are very excited to have such an experienced and caring clinician join our Sports Medicine staff," says Catholic Head Athletic Trainer Lucas Miller. "Ashley comes to us highly recommended, and we look forward to incorporating her skills and insights to enhance the medical care we provide for all of our student-athletes."

Zajac is a graduate of the University of Maryland where she earned a bachelor of science degree in Kinesiology before continuing her education at Salisbury University where she earned a master of science degree in Athletic Training. During her time at Maryland, she learned her craft by assisting certified athletic trainers with the care of student athletes within the baseball, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's track & field and men's lacrosse programs.

In her new role, Zajac will work alongside Miller and the other sports medicine staff to provide evaluations, treatment, recovery aids and injury rehab to all student-athletes. She will be a valuable resource to the athletic department, especially athletes and coaches as they navigate health and wellness throughout the season.

We are extremely excited to have Ashley on board as the Associate Head Athletic Trainer," says Catholic Athletics Health Care Administrator Jaime Walls. "Ashley's previous experience working with both high school and college students will help us continue to provide our student-athletes with high quality healthcare. I look forward to her settling in and assisting us in moving our Sports Medicine Department forward."
