Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Catholic University women's tennis team swept Harford Community College on Tuesday to move to 3-2 on the season.
The Cardinals showed their dominance on the day, winning six of the nine total matches at love. Mairead O'Hara and Ava Niggemeier combined for the victory at the top spot.
All three Catholic doubles teams did not lose a game while Marissa Stambaugh, Ava Kaloustian and Alyson Morris all won at love at No. 4, No 5 and No. 6 singles.
Jane Krukiel was locked in a battle at the top singles position, emerging victorious in straight sets, winning each by a single break (6-4, 6-4). Paige Brightwell played well at No. 3 singles, dropping just four games (6-3, 6-1).
Meaghan Laniewski, who was named Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week hours before the match, rattled off 12 straight games after dropping the just one right at the beginning of the match at No. 2 singles.
Krukiel, Laniewski, Brightwell and Stambaugh all earned two wins of the day while Kaloustian earned her first collegiate victory.
The Cardinals will return to action tomorrow for their final match of the fall season. Nate Farlow's team will welcome Stevenson to the Dowd Family Tennis Courts for a non-conference battle at 4 p.m.
