WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Catholic men's swimming and diving team picked up a win on Saturday afternoon, defeating Scranton 164-131.
The Catholic 200-yard medley relay team got things off to a great start as Jack Hufner, Nathan Ober, Jackson Hicks, and William Crecca combined to eke out a victory by just over half a second with a time of 1:37.79.
All four swimmers from the 200-yard medley relay earned individual wins for the Cardinals on Saturday.
Ober picked up a win in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 59.28. Crecca won the 50-free with a time of 21.64, edging out his season-opening time of 21.73. Hufner won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:00.25, and Hicks won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:12.45. Hufner flew past his time from the Drew meet, shaving more than three seconds off this afternoon. Hicks was also faster than the season-opening meet when he finished the event in 2:13.26.
The versatile Ellis Prescott won a pair of events for the Cardinals, starting strong with a win in the 1,000 yard free with a time of 10:22.83. Later in the meet, Prescott won the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:04.15, just edging out Scranton's Mike Finley with a time of 2:04.71.
Charles Connolly swept the diving events, winning the one-meter dive with a score of 181.50 and the three-meter dive with a time of 146.50.
Next up, the Cardinals will travel to Randolph-Macon for a meet on November 5.
