WASHINGTON, D.C. - Catholic University women's swimming fell to Randolph-Macon, 138-123, Saturday at the DuFour Center Pool.
Junior Alexa Hipp was dominant in the backstroke events, winning both the 100 (1:01.57) and the 200-yard (2:13.63) events.
Freshman Ava Snyder also claimed two individual victories, as she swam past the field in the 200 freestyle (2:03.57) and the 500 freestyle (5:26.80).
Snyder combined with senior Kelly Smith, junior Madeline Doucette and junior Emma Gould on the 200 freestyle relay team that outtouched Randolph-Macon at the wall to win by .05 seconds in a thrilling race.
Smith also won the 1000 yard free with a time of 11:16.75, while Senior Cagney Boyle won the 400 individual medley (4:54.39).
The Cardinals are back in action next Saturday, Jan. 29, when they welcome Division I Howard to DuFour Center pool on Senior Day. The meet will begin at 1 p.m., and will be preceded by Senior Day activities. The event will be open to spectators with valid proof of vaccination.
