ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Led by two victories each from senior Kelly Smith and junior Alexa Hipp, the Catholic University women's swimming & diving team posted a 169-91 victory at Elizabethtown Saturday.
The Cardinals (2-2), who won a total of nine events, picked up their second win of the season and second-straight. They finished first in the 200 and 400-yard medley relay with a time of 1:46.00 and 4:15.08, respectively.
Smith finished first in the 50-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle. She touched first in the 50 free with a time of 26.56 seconds while claiming the top spot in the 500 free with a mark of 5:36.29.
Meanwhile, Hipp won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.50 and claimed the 200-yard backstroke in 2:16.21.
Catholic swept the top three spots in the 500 free. In addition to Smith, freshman Emma Ruffo touched the wall in 5:39.25 while junior Claire Laux had a time of 5:52.49.
Freshman Ava Snyder finished first in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:09.19.
Senior Cagney Boyle finished first in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:34.96 while junior Madeline Doucette came in second at 2:40.66. Doucette earned a first-place finish of her own in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.97 while Boyle came in second in 1:14.44.
Senior Colleen McDonald had a second-place showing in the 200 back with a time of 2:19.75.
Catholic heads to Ashland, Va. on Friday Dec. 3 for the two-day Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Randolph-Macon.
