WASHINGTON, D.C.- The Catholic University women's swim team picked up their first win of the season on Saturday, defeating Goucher 210-45 in dual meet action.
The Cardinals (1-2) were led by senior Kate Von Heeringen, who took home three first place finishes on the day. Von Heeringen first grouped up with juniors Alexa Hipp, Madeline Doucette and Megan Lowell to place first in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:55.53.
After a victory in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:35.78, Von Heeringen won her second relay of the night with fellow senior Colleen McDonald, freshman Emma Ruffo and sophomore Grace Ciaccia in the 400 yard freestyle relay. The realy team finished with a time of 3:56.66.
Junior Emma Gould had a strong day in the 100 yard events, placing first in the freestyle with a 57.14 and in the butterfly with a 1:03.54.
In two of her best events, reigning Landmark individual champion senior Cagney Boyle placed first in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:34.39. She also earned gold in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:19.84.
Catholic will return to the pool Saturday, Nov. 20 when it travels to Elizabethtown for a 1 p.m. start.
