TOWSON, Md. - The Catholic University women's track and field team was picked to finish sixth in the Landmark Conference preseason poll released on Wednesday.
The Cardinals, who were picked fifth a year ago, finished fourth at the 2019 Landmark Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships. The trio of sophomore Paige Wilderotter, senior Grace Boras and junior Victoria Carlini earned All-Landmark Conference First Team honors after winning gold in the distance medley relay in a new championship record time of 7.45 seconds.
Carlini also made the podium in the 800 meters with a personal record of 2:27.61 while Boras finished third in the 60-meter dash with a personal record of 8.37 seconds.
The women's 4x200 meter relay team of sophomores Jillian Walter, Olivia Fiore and junior Madeline Baker as well as the 4x400 meter relay team of Boras, Carlini, Fiore and sophomore Anna Walcutt each finished fourth.
Moravian was picked to win its third-straight Landmark Conference title and 12th overall by totaling 60 points and six first-place votes. Elizabethtown came in second with 45 points and one first-place vote while Susquehanna was third with 34 points.
Scranton received 20 points, followed by Juniata (16), Catholic (15) and Goucher (6 points).
The Cardinals open the 2019-20 season next Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Diplomat Open hosted by Franklin & Marshall. The 2020 Landmark Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held on Saturday, Feb. 29 at Susquehanna.
