ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - Catholic University women's basketball sophomore Luca Mamula scored a season-high 21 points while senior Sydney Poindexter added 18 points and 12 rebounds as the Cardinals posted a 75-54 road win over St. Mary's College of Maryland Tuesday.
Catholic (4-0) outscored the Seahawks, 42-21 over the second and third quarters to take a 22-point lead after the Cards led by just one after one, 14-13.
Led by 11 points from Mamula, the Cardinals outscored the hosts 23-10 in the second.
Mamula posted her second career 20-point game. Her career high is 28 points set in an 83-58 win over Goucher at home on Jan. 23, 2019.
Meanwhile, Poindexter totaled her fourth career double double after finishing one rebound shy of her career high set in a 73-67 win at UC Santa Cruz on Dec. 20, 2017. She scored 12 of her 18 points from the free throw line where she was 12-for-14.
Catholic's five starters combined for 59 of its 75 points with sophomore Amanda Johnson scored 12 to go along with five rebounds, three assists and three steals.
The Cardinals tied their season high with 18 steals, equaling the mark they set in the season opener against Anna Maria. Eight players registered at least one steal in the win.
Catholic returns to action this Friday when it takes on Penn State Abington in the Scott Wood Tournament hosted by Muhlenberg. Tipoff is at 1 p.m.
