TOWSON, Md. - Catholic University men's swimming sophomore Jeffrey Schriefer-Flores has been selected as the Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week, announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
Schriefer-Flores led the charge with three event wins in Catholic's meet against Elizabethtown College on Saturday, Nov. 9. The Cardinals defeated the Blue Jays 194-66 for their second dual meet victory of the season, both against conference opponents.
The Lexington, Ky. native swam first in the 200-medley relay to open the meet. His 25.78 split got Catholic off to a strong start before taking second place with a final time of 1:42.04.
Schriefer-Flores then touched first in the 50-freestyle sprint event with a 22.15 time, and then dominated the 200-backstroke with a 2:01.95 time that bested the next finisher by more than five seconds.
The sophomore contributed to another first-place finish in the final event of the afternoon, the 200-freestyle relay. His 22.44 split helped the Cardinals take first with a relay time of 1:30.72.
Catholic travels Towson, Md., to take on another Landmark Conference opponent in Goucher next Saturday, Nov. 16.
