Catholic Men’s Lacrosse Falls at Hampden-Sydney, 14-10

Hampden-Sydney, Va. - The Catholic University of America men's lacrosse team traveled to one of the top team's in the nation on Wednesday night and went toe-to-toe with Hampden-Sydney but were edged late, 14-10.

The Cardinals trailed, 12-8, at the end of the third, but came back to make it a three-goal game, 13-10 with just over four minutes to play. The Tigers were able to stymie the Catholic run from there however as they got a goal back and held the Cards from adding to their goal total.

In a back-and-forth offensive battle, Hampden-Sydney outshot Catholic, 45-38, and made life difficult for the Cardinals in the midfield as they negated 10 potential clears for the Cards.

Sophomore goalie Alex Mulyk helped keep Catholic in the game all evening long as he stopped a career-best 19 shots.

Seven different Cards scored led by a hat trick from senior Daniel Cannon. He also added an assist for a four-point night.

Classmate Bennett Bradley was just behind with a three-point performance on a goal and two assists. Rookie Owen Smith had Catholic's other multi-point game with two goals.

The Cardinals look to get back in the win column this Saturday as they return home to take on Arcadia at 1 p.m.
