WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Catholic University field hockey team secured its first win of the season on Wednesday, defeating Gettysburg at Cardinal Stadium, 3-2.
The Cardinals (1-1) have won nine of the last 10 meetings against the Bullets dating back to the 2010 season.
Junior Meghan Shallow led the way, recording two of Catholic's three goals, posting her second career multi-goal game and first since a 7-0 victory against Drew on Sept. 29, 2018.
The Bullets tied the game at 2-2 with two minutes remaining in the third quarter. The Cardinals entered the fourth quarter determined to get a win on their home field as junior forward Jess Waite scored the third and final goal with just 2:01 remaining.
Catholic faces its second top-10 opponent in three games this season when it travels to Glassboro, New Jersey on Saturday to take on No. 3 Rowan. Game time is at 1 p.m.
