Moehringer Chosen as Landmark Conference's Woman of the Year Nominee

| By:
TOWSON, Md. - After recently being named the Catholic University nominee for the NCAA's Woman of the Year award, Emily Moehringer has been selected out of a group of 10 tremendous female athletes as the Landmark Conference's nominee.

"I am honored to be selected as a nominee among such a strong and talented group of women in the Landmark Conference," said Moehringer. "I'm grateful to my coaches, teammates, and family for their unwavering support, guidance, and belief in me throughout my time at Catholic University. This nomination is a reflection of the incredible people who have shaped who I am and laid the foundation for my success in the classroom, on the track, and in life."

Eligible female student-athletes are nominated by their member school. Each conference office then reviews the nominations from its core member schools (and sponsored sports) and submits its conference nominee(s) to the NCAA. Then, in the Fall, the NCAA Woman of the Year selection committee identifies the top 30, 10 from each division, and from there selects three finalists from each division. The Committee on Women's Athletics then selects the winner from the nine finalists.

Moehringer, the only five time All-American in Catholic history, recently completed an excellent career as a student-athlete while also finding time to give back to both her hometown and D.C. communities. A 3.9 student in Catholic's Honors Program with a degree in nursing, Moehringer was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team three times. She was also a five-time United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Accoiation (USTFCCCA) All-Academic selection.

"Emily Moehringer exemplifies everything we hope for in a student-athlete," said Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Steve Rahn. "Her unwavering dedication, leadership, and humility have elevated not just our team but the entire Catholic University community. To see her recognized as a nominee for NCAA Woman of the Year by the Landmark Conference is an incredible honor—and a reflection of the impact she's made far beyond the track. Emily represents the best of college athletics."

The Landmark Conference's Indoor Track & Field Senior Scholar-Athlete competed at four NCAA Championships, earning five All-America honors, including becoming the first female athlete since Andrea Galeano in 2019 to earn First Team All-America honors with a seventh-place finish in the 1,500 this past spring. She is a 12-time All-South Region selection in track & field and a one-time All-South Region honoree in cross country. Moehringer was a 13-time All-Landmark choice in track & field while two more in cross country. She leaves Catholic as the holder of six program records and three Landmark Conference records.

Moehringer's contributions to service included Mother Teresa and Martin Luther King, Jr. days of service at Catholic, time spent with So Others Might Eat (SOME), Sacred Heart Dinners, BuildOn, and a clinical practicum in Costa Rica.

"Emily approaches all aspects of her life with a genuine humility and a desire to achieve great things," said VP for Athletics and Recreation Kevin Robinson. "Her nomination for NCAA Woman of the Year is a perfect way to encapsulate her career at Catholic, where her impact has been made on the track, in the classroom, and in our community. Emily combines a fierce competitiveness with a caring, selfless attitude, allowing her to achieve success in the magnanimous tasks she takes on every day. She is an incredible representative of The Catholic University of America."
