MT. BERRY, Ga. - The Catholic University women's cross country team finished 12th out of 32 teams at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Championship to close out its season on Saturday.
The Cards were led by senior Kiera Lyons finishing with a time of 24:12.01. Sophomore Tara Thornton was the next Cardinal to finish with a time of 25:05.88. Freshman Hannah Marino was the third Card to cross the finish line at 25:19.23. All three Cardinals placed in the top third of competitors.
"The women's team had their best team finish at the Regional Championship since 2012 behind All-Region performance from Kiera." Said Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Steve Rahn, "Tara had another stellar post-season race with Hannah not far behind. Marykate, Paige, Alex, and Shannon all did a great job working together to finish in a close pack. I'm very proud of how they all adjusted to the training schedule this year. They showed promise for the future of the women's cross country team."
