Rahn Named Director of Cross Country and Track & Field

Wahington, D.C.- Catholic University Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics Sean Sullivan announced today that Steve Rahn has been hired as the Director of Cross Country and Track and Field. He comes to Catholic with 16 years of coaching experience, including eight at the collegiate level.

"Steve's experiences as a chief contributor to the seemingly annual track & field success at Moravian College thoroughly impressed our department," said Sullivan. "He brings a highly analytical and communicative approach to coaching that we believe will help support the program's continued development. Not only is he fully well versed in multiple disciplines which fit in with our current coaching staff, but Steve's knowledge of the region and thoughtful persona will only aid in the growth of our competitive confidence."

Rahn spent six years as an assistant track and field coach at Moravian working with the sprinters, hurdlers, and combined event athletes. During his time in Bethlehem, he coached athletes to 21 Landmark Conference records, 20 school records, 11 conference meet records, nine NCAA qualifiers and four All-Americans.

Rahn was a part of 22 Landmark Conference championships in men's and women's track and field, 103 individual and 15 relay conference champions, 22 Coaching Staff of the Year, five track, seven field and nine rookie of the year awards. He also mentored the 2014 USTFCCCA Mideast Region Field Athlete of the Year, Kris Joint.

"I am thrilled for the opportunity as the first full-time head coach to lead both the men's and women's Cross Country and Track & Field teams at Catholic University," said Rahn. "The Cardinals have a rich history of success on the track and I am excited to help guide both programs to a bright future. After spending the past six years in the Landmark Conference, I know the teams have endless potential."

Rahn is an IAAF Level 5 Certified Elite Coach in Sprints and Hurdles, USATF Level 3 in Sprints and Hurdles, USATF Level 2 in Combined Events, USATF Certified Instructor, USTFCCCA Jumps Specific certified, and USTFCCCA Strength & Conditioning certified.

Prior Moravian, Rahn coached at Albright College for two years as the assistant track and field coach for hurdles and jumps. While there, he coached one NCAA qualifier and five school record holders.
